The Saturday that BYU had a 'bye' we decided to get out and see a couple of sites since there was no football. We had heard about this park downtown that was for free but really cool. So, we decided to take an afternoon, pack a lunch, and see the park for ourselves.
Spokane is filled with trees lining the entire street. I think it is very quaint and gives the city a Mary Poppins kind of feel to it. This is an older neighborhood near the park and I couldn't help but take this picture because of the giant trees and their leaves.

It was a cold and kind of rainy day so there weren't a lot of people around the park. This is a "cove" that we found. It was really green even though the camera doesn't show it that well.

This garden was so well kept! It was awesome. We were the only ones there so we leisurely walked around and enjoyed looking at all of the squirrels that were eating the berries off of the shrubs bordering the entire premise. I can only imagine what this park looks like in the spring because all of those brown patches are where flowers should be.

I couldn't help but sing the song, "I am sixteen going on seventeen" while swinging around the columns. I couldn't get Ryan to join in on the song and impersonation.

We then went into another section of the park called the Japanese gardens. This garden was absolutely breathtaking! We were in awe at the spectacular amounts of color on all the trees. We seriously spent most of our time in this garden because it was so beautiful. I think you will see why.
This was the first view we saw when we walked in...

A charming little bridge going over the pond

the view while standing on the bridge

We turned this picture into our desktop because we loved it so much!

All in all we had a really fun day spending it at Manito Park.

Gorgeous! The pic of all the trees at the Japanese Garden is spectacular. We want to see it when we come visit.
WOW. I want to visit and go there!
Look at you guys exploring Spokane! Great pictures! I don't think Aaron has ever been to Manito Park before. We'll have to take him before we move, won't we? And now you need to update...I want Seattle pics!
Have you seen the Rose Garden in full bloom yet? Its so beautiful! I didn't realize you two had moved there, but that is where Steve is from!
